We operate our business in the same way we lead our lives - responsibly & with as much kindness as possible

Family

At the heart of our business is family. East Coast Cured was born from a genuine passion for cured meats & a love of bringing family & friends together through good food.

Seeing our products bringing joy to our customers’ family & friends & becoming part of your table traditions is what inspires us to do what we do every day & what drives us to continue making the best products we possibly can while we grow as a business & a family.

Local

One of the main reasons East Coast Cured exists is to celebrate the wealth of magnificent produce available in Scotland & to put our wee country on the map as an international contender in the production of high quality cured meats.

From sourcing & suppliers to customers & community, supporting local has been at the heart of what we do since the beginning.

  • Many of our customers shop with us out of a desire to support local businesses and we adhere to the same philosophy.

The meat we use has always been, and always will be, Scottish. It’s sourced from farms who are both SSPCA approved and QMS accredited ensuring the best animal welfare standards.

We apply the same thinking to our other raw materials but where this is impossible we work with Scottish wholesalers to source the ingredients we need.

From packaging to printing to professional services we work with as many Scottish suppliers across our business as possible.

  • Leith is where our business was born. It’s where our owners live & raise their children. It’s where many of our team, past & present, live and where we spend time with friends & family.

We’re proud to be part of the Leith, and Edinburgh, community, and support local schools, charities and community groups with fundraising when we can.

Sustainable

Whatever kind of business we ran, its impact on our local community & the world around us would be a high priority & as a meat business we feel even more responsibility to ensure that our business operates as sustainably as it possibly can.

  • We promote the message of responsible meat consumption. Eat less, and of a higher quality. Buy from local, discerning producers who put an emphasis on provenance and sustainability.

  • We use locally sourced ingredients and work with local suppliers across our business, saving on food and transport miles. We require our suppliers to have a similar ethos to ourselves, ensuring quality animal husbandry standards & a focus on sustainability.

Our production methods are as responsible as they can be. Our process creates minimal waste - using as much of the animal as possible.

The long shelf life on our products further reduces the likelihood of waste & they do not require refrigeration.

Our process doesn’t involve heating or cooling therefore is less carbon intensive than other forms of food production. Emissions from our main raw material, pork, are less than those of other farmed meats such as beef.
